About the role
This is a great opportunity to apply your business development skills towards acquisitions in an entrepreneurial environment. The Business Development Associate will spend the majority of their time pro-actively reaching out to business owners and management teams of software companies to build and manage acquisition targets for our M&A Team.
Responsibilities
Manage and grow our M&A prospect database by identifying small, medium, and large sized software companies that meet our acquisition criteria in South and Central America
Nurture acquisition prospects by proactively initiating and maintaining relationships with owners of software businesses (calls/emails/tradeshows)
Conduct market research to evaluate potential acquisition prospects and obtain high-level financial and operational information about target companies
Initiate outbound prospecting calls and emails to connect with target companies
Develop and build relationships with CEOs, Presidents, and Owners
Follow-up on outbound and inbound prospect activities in a timely manner
Track activities and maintain relevant information in Salesforce
Some international travel (10-20%) may be required.
Ideal Candidate
Determined: This is a client-facing role, and we are looking for a driven, energetic, and professional individual to join our growing team.
Strong Work Ethic: Demonstrated ability to initiate a high volume of calls/conversations per day. Understanding that M&A prospecting is a balance between volume and precision that requires consistent effort. There will be requirements to work outside of regular business hours as needed.
Entrepreneurial Attitude: Ability to work independently and connect the dots when speaking to business owners. Positive personality with a strong drive to succeed.
Articulate & Persuasive: Ability to think on your feet and pivot the conversation when necessary. Communicates in a professional, confident, and convincing manner.
Analytical & Intellectually Curious: Desire to become an expert in the challenges and opportunities inherent to vertical market software businesses.
Technical Competencies
Verbal and written proficiency in English is required.
Verbal and written proficiency in Portuguese and Spanish is preferred.
Any experience in sales, software/technology, corporate development/strategy, or the Energy sector is considered an asset.
Compensation
Competitive base plus performance-oriented bonus.
