About the role
Petrosys Group is seeking an entry-level Transcription Technician to join our Interica DataCentre team in Dartford. In this role, you’ll support the digitization, cataloging, and delivery of legacy oil & gas data. It’s a great opportunity for someone who is technically minded, detail-oriented, and eager to learn about subsurface data workflows.
You will work with physical media, digital tools, and reporting systems to ensure accurate data conversion and compliance with industry standards. We’re looking for a motivated individual who is curious, adaptable, and ready to learn new systems, tools, and techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate scanning and transcription equipment to digitize tapes, logs, maps, and seismic sections
- Perform quality checks to ensure data is complete and legible
- Apply metadata tags and organize files according to established standards
- Assist with data ingestion into Interica’s systems and platforms
- Load and submit data packages to the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA)
- Create and maintain reports using Microsoft Excel and Word to track transcription progress and delivery status
- Maintain accurate records of transcription activities and flag any issues
- Retrieve boxes, move tape drives, and perform other physical tasks related to data handling and storage
- Follow security protocols when handling sensitive or proprietary data
- Collaborate with other technicians and data managers to meet project deadlines
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move boxes and equipment (up to 20kg) safely
- Comfortable standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Manual handling training will be provided if required
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel and Word for basic reporting and documentation
- Familiarity with oil & gas data types such as seismic, well logs, and geological reports is a plus
- Understanding of file formats like TIFF, SEG-Y and LAS is helpful but not required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured workflows
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and processes
- Prior experience in a data center or technical environment is beneficial but not essential
